Respite Care
Respite care offers short-term admissions, typically one to two weeks, to provide carers at home with a much-needed break.
- Applications are managed through HSE Community Services.
- Residents availing of in-patient respite care for more than 30 days in a calendar year are subject to charges in line with the Health (Charges for In-Patient Services) Regulations 2005, as amended by the 2011 Health Amendment Act.

Irish & British Armed Forces Ex-Service Personnel
Leopardstown Park Hospital honours its legacy of serving ex-service personnel.
- Eligibility: The same criteria apply as for other applicants.
- Priority Admissions: Preference is given to Irish & British Armed Forces ex-service personnel.
Please indicate ex-service status clearly when applying.
To prepare for your stay, please bring the following:
- Day clothes and comfortable shoes.
- Nightwear, dressing gown, and closed-fitting slippers.
- Medications list.
- Any required items such as glasses, hearing aids, mobility aids, cushions, splints, or positioning devices.
As it is very important that your medical care is seamlessly followed through on your move to LPH, please bring a recent full medical report from your GP, including any consultant reports received, as well as your most recent prescription.
This ensures that the LPH team has a full understanding of your medical needs upon arrival. If you are coming to LPH from another healthcare institution, please also bring a medical report from there.
This information helps us ensure continuity of care and allows our team to provide the highest standard of support from day one.
Before leaving Leopardstown Park Hospital, ensure you:
- Have arranged transportation home.
- Have all personal belongings.
- Have obtained the correct medication or arranged for it to be collected.
- Received your discharge information pack, including:
- Letters for GP.
- Prescription.
- Discharge instruction leaflet.
- Home Exercise Programme (if applicable).
