Promoting Awareness and Responsibility
Leopardstown Park Hospital is proud to support the national campaign for Children First Awareness Week, which takes place from 15th โ 21st September 2025.
This week is dedicated to raising awareness of Children First and ensuring that all staff understand their responsibilities to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable young people.
Why Children First Matters
Children First provides a national framework for the protection and welfare of children. It reminds us of our duty of care, the importance of recognising and responding to concerns, and the role each of us plays in creating a safe environment.
During Awareness Week, we are encouraging staff to reflect on:
-
What is Children First?
-
What are my responsibilities under Children First as a healthcare professional?
-
Do I know how to raise a concern and who to report it to?
-
Have I completed my Children First training โ and is it up to date?
Building a Culture of Awareness
Throughout the week, resources will be shared across the hospital to highlight the key messages of the campaign. Staff are encouraged to take time to revisit the training, posters, and guidance materials available to them.
By engaging with this campaign, we reinforce our shared commitment to keeping children safe, both within the hospital and in the wider community.
